Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (TSBVI) is an integral partner of Candlelight Ranch.  The moments witnessed at the ranch are memorable not only for the students of TSBVI, but also Candlelight Ranch staff and volunteers.   One student explained the transcendent qualities of the ranch. She closed her eyes and marveled, “It is beautiful to be here . I have never been in a place where I can hear this beauty.”

John Rose, Program Coordinator for TSBVI, reflects on his time spent at Candlelight Ranch, “For several years, I have taken elementary and secondary students with visual impairments for outdoor activities and overnight stays at Candlelight Ranch. Our experiences have been nothing less than phenomenal, primarily thanks to the thoughtful programming delivered by experienced Candlelight Ranch staff. TSBVI students have had some breakthrough moments, overcoming fears by trying new activities and growing outside of their comfort zones. I cannot imagine a better destination than Candlelight Ranch for the students who attend our outdoors classes — what a special place!”
