Spring at the Ranch

March 30, 2020

Spring at the Ranch sprang into action in February with groups and volunteers experiencing and contributing to the mission of Candlelight Ranch. February’s Military Family Day welcomed Military Personnel and their loved ones from all over Central Texas to spend a day bonding together in the healing benefits of nature. As one parent reflected, ” My family had an amazing time trying new things together. We learned to overcome obstacles, which in turn built our confidence”.

South Austin’s Paredes Middle School visited for their annual student council’s leadership retreat. Students learned what it means to lead by example, to trust others and productively communicate with their teachers and peers by spending a day focused on teambuilding. Students completed activities focused on problem solving including canoeing, hiking, low ropes, ziplining and scaling our high ropes tower!

Volunteer groups from Hyde Park High School and Texas Materials helped complete much needed projects that directly enhance our programming and the conservation of the land. Hyde Park students selflessly served during their Spring Break by working in our food forest and helping make our trails safe! Texas Materials employees shared their expertise on our archery course and enhanced the safety of our waterfront programming!  Thank you, Hyde Park students and Texas Material, for making our property more accessible and even more beautiful sour our children and families can learn, explore and heal.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Candlelight Ranch has paused all remaining spring programs until further notice.  We are taking direction from local and state government to keep our staff, volunteers and families safe and healthy.  Don’t worry, we will be ready to welcome everyone back to the ranch as soon as we can!
