Candlelight Ranch, along with its horses, Rusty, Comet and Belle and a sweet donkey named Astro, provide important therapeutic and educational opportunities. Interacting with horses helps participants learn about themselves, process feelings, behaviors and patterns.
Candlelight Ranch is certified to provide the EAGALA Model— or Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine Assisted Learning — a standard and structure for providing learning sessions. Participants are able to practice the social skills they are learning in the classroom in an environment where they receive immediate feedback from horses, peers and facilitators. This experiential therapy helps children and families cope with problems and grow toward their highest level of wellness.
All equine programs are conducted on the ground and allow participants to interact directly with the horses. Equine activities are customized with a specific objective and underlying goal to meet the needs of the individuals participating.
It Helps Participants:
- Learn responsibility
- Develop work ethic
- Communicate clearly
- Socialize in groups
- Develop leadership skills
- Respect animals
- Acquire new life skills
In addition to EAGALA, children and families enjoy our educational and fun horse activities that included grooming, leading and painting our equine friends!
