Summer Programs Move Forward

We are excited and thankful to have re-opened our gates in early May! Through June, we are serving individual families daily and have welcomed Military and Veteran families, special needs families, and foster families for a personalized day at the ranch!  Each day aims to give our visiting family the best day ever out at Candlelight Ranch. Kayaking, archery, hiking, fishing, picnicking, nature crafts and equine assisted learning enable families of all backgrounds and abilities, the chance to bond with each other and nature. We are excited to have the chance to deepen our connection with families while helping them have an incredible day filled with memories!

After a day at the ranch, a mother shared, “My family and I have come closer since we have started our journey at Candlelight Ranch. We have grown as individuals, and together, closer than we have been in a while. Getting back to nature and mother earth is magical experience. I know for my family it has been. My children as well as myself overcame fears and obstacles we doubted in ourselves. This place holds more than meets the eye. It is a healing ground.”

This summer we are thrilled to continue with our sixth year of Camp Dreamcatcher. This camp offers a three-day, two-night summer camp experience for children in foster care, adopted or who have experienced trauma. Many of our campers who participate in this camp have been with Camp Dreamcatcher from inception, creating a true sense of family among campers and staff!

As we continue into July, Candlelight Ranch will host small day camp groups providing children a fun and educational summer adventure. Our partnerships with Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge and A Glimmer of Hope continue, enabling underserved youth the opportunity to experience camp while learning about native Central Texas plants and animals, thanks to BCNWR staff. We look forward to what the rest of summer brings as we gain momentum in serving the children and families of our Central Texas community!
