Becca Gutierrez Schafer is a single mother, activist, public speaker, and award winning chef. She founded Becca Events and Catering in 2012, and now co-owns the business with Paul Brady, (owner of River City Grille). Becca grew up in South Texas, and has called this community home since 2005.
Becca was honored by the Legacy Fund, who presented her with the 2019 Legacy Outstanding Community Volunteer Award.
Becca shares her own journey of recovery from trauma and abuse through public speaking. Her goal is to create community and find help for survivors, bring awareness to the issues of trauma and abuse, and change laws and policies to assist families like hers. She hopes to found a center for parents and adults who have experienced trauma in the future.
She is an ambassador for Candlelight Ranch and The Phoenix Center, two organizations that helped her and her daughter, Isabelle, offering foundations for healing. Becca has also been a keynote speaker at many events, and her audience has included law makers, law enforcers, and the First Lady of Texas, Cecelia Abbott.
Becca has also been a frequent volunteer for Colt Elementary, Marble Falls ISD, the City Of Marble Falls, The Marble Falls Rotary Club, the Boys & Girls Club (where she also served as the Unit Director years ago), Camp of the Hills, Hill Country Community Theater, Reclaim Arts Academy, the Marble Falls Chamber Of Commerce, The Helping Center, and countless community events and programs.
Becca’s greatest joy is her daughter, Isabelle, who is 11. Isabelle is her constant companion in volunteerism. Becca has a passion for traveling, the arts, anthropology, and a special interest in social justice.
Becca believes that each moment is an opportunity to gain wisdom, and that gratitude can be the key to survival.
