Jonathan Wagner is a Landscape Architect and Principal at studio 16:19, where he focuses on designing meaningful outdoor spaces that bring communities together, support healthy lifestyles, and inspire deeper connections with nature. With a degree in Landscape Architecture from Texas A&M University and over a decade of experience, he brings a thoughtful, people-first approach to everything from neighborhood parks and trails to streetscapes and outdoor learning environments.
Jonathan is especially passionate about using nature as a tool for healing, learning, and growth, whether it is through sustainable and biophilic design, water conservation and rainwater harvesting systems, or integrating native plants and biodiversity to restore and promote healthy and resilient landscapes. Jonathan holds certifications in permaculture and in designing outdoor learning spaces for children, and he’s driven by the belief that everyone, regardless of age or ability, should have access to the magic and benefits of the outdoors.
Beyond his design work, Jonathan serves as Vice President of Government Affairs for the Texas chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (Texas ASLA), where he advocates for the role of landscape architecture in protecting public health, safety, and wellbeing. He also mentors students through his role on the Professional Advisory Board for the Texas A&M Department of Landscape Architecture, giving back to the program that helped shape his own career.
Outside the office, Jonathan enjoys hiking, camping, and spending time outdoors with his wife, two daughters, and their dogs. He’s also a regular contributor to Austin Town Hall, where he combines his love of live music, writing, and sketching. On the weekends, you might find him captaining his local men’s league soccer team or catching a local music performance.
“I am thrilled to be part of the Candlelight Ranch Board, supporting this special place where children of all backgrounds and abilities can experience the joy and healing power of nature. From the sensory gardens to science-based outdoor adventures, Candlelight Ranch is an absolute gem that offers something truly special to the Central Texas community and I’m honored to assist in furthering the mission of creating safe, inclusive, and inspiring spaces for kids to learn, grow, and just be themselves.”
